Below is a collection of logos, magazine ads and spreads, and other layouts I’ve done throughout my time as a Marine (on and off duty), and as a SNHU student.
Amethyst Bay Campaign: A two-part ad campaign for a Virgin Islands resort and spa that features a print advertisement and animated web banner.
“Freaky Friday” Magazine Cover Swap: An image of a Seattle Tower used to create magazine covers that told two different narratives — the left cover variant caters to a space/technology field, while the right caters to evening dining.
November Calendar: A mockup calendar created based on the style of Emory Douglas, a graphic artist and former member of the Black Panther Party who led the illustrations in their newspapers between 1967 and 1980.
Paws & Claws Holistic Animal Clinic: A school project of a brand that specializes in natural care and services such as pet massage and acupuncture.
TOWN: A branding compilation of a [fictious] Chinese cuisine restaurant for a mature crowd (30s+). The brand has two different color schemes, and the current scheme was used to represent the earlier mentioned maturity.
Music Talks with Children: an article that involves a child, therefore kid-friendly typefaces were used for the layout like Athelas, and Garamond – Athelas for the headlines and sub-headlines and a quote by Bayard Taylor, and Garamond was for the body text. Because the headlines and sub-headlines are on a color background, white text and bold fonts were used to make them stand out and readable. Otherwise, they would’ve easily bled into the background, especially if they were in small print.
Typography with Busta Rhymes: To help emphasize the boldness of the My Puma typeface and Busta Rhymes’ character, I decided to use only uppercase lettering instead of a sentence case (mixture of uppercase and lowercase). This also adds the overall message of demanding attention and showcasing energy, which is also coupled with the emcee’s pose for the portrait.
LZ Real Estate Team: I created this logo based on the vision of my realtor in Jacksonville, NC, who is also a retired Marine and has worked for Re-Max.
LinkedIn: The goal of his project was to showcase social media presence with my branding. In order to do so, I chose to replicate [to an extent] my LinkedIn page by adding my Top Voice badge, Featured pages, Top Skills and notable symbols. A mockup of the site was also made to show realism.
Gilliam’s Candle Company: I recently created this logo for one of my former Marines, who wanted something that represents the fruity and earthly scented candles she sells.
4fk30 Café: An exaggerated self-portrait/collage targeted towards primarily coffee lovers and people getting off from work (however, all are welcome thus making my overall message “Café anytime, anywhere, with anyone.”) I chose the message and audience based on my personal experience while living overseas in Okinawa, Japan – while many of the cafés here only have adult customers (because of them having just coffee), there are those that also feature food while coffee is one the main items.
Let It Reign: During my time in the Military Journalism Program at Syracuse University, the final project was a magazine in which each student was required to contribute a spread. My contribution was of the school’s first black step team Black Reign competing in its first step competition.
HH Blvd (Hustle Hard Boulevard): I created this logo as a favor for my late cousin, Tyree ‘Colion’ Moorehead, who created the term and record label during his time as a local (Baltimore) hip hop artist. Tyree also spent half his life incarcerated before becoming a rapper, and then later an activist for anti-gun violence before his unfortunate death.
