The final project for this course, Desktop Publishing, was the creation of a table tent, menu, and a brochure. We selected a client from the two provided choices: TOWN or Pasta Amore.
The prompt was that the client intended to open a restaurant and was looking to develop a variety of materials in order to advertise. Utilizing elements and specifications in a guide the client provided, we were tasked with creating the table tent, menu design, and brochure. We were required to compile all of the pieces into a presentation designed via InDesign to deliver to the customer.
I selected the first client, TOWN, which represented a high-end formal dining experience. Foremost for each piece, I made sure the TOWN logo was on non-distracting background and used a high contrast color scheme. Paying attention to the formality scale where lots of bright colors would be more casual while black and white would be a more formal experience, I used white on black for the logo and mainly dark backgrounds to communicate the high-end value the client envisioned for the brand. The colors used throughout were provided in the client’s style guide while I selected appropriate open source stock photographs for the images. For cohesiveness and to communicate the intended message of each to the respective audiences I took elements from one design piece to the next.
