These projects help showcase my talent for drawing. I love Art and I love to draw since the age of six. These drawings show the colorful side of my art and the black-and-white side. Almost a reflection of myself as a silly and bubbly person with colorful art yet serious when its time to be
Value drawings – I was inspired to create because at the time I loved anatomy and always loved to draw in black and white before I was introduced to color. They are personally hand drawn by me using graphite pencil. In my skull with roses drawings, the leaves and roses give a sense of movement leading your eyes to the skull. The skull is the focal point and the lines and contrate help create emphasis. The line works in the roses and leaves to help add texture.
Value Drawings -At the time, I was very impressed and learned about Greek statues and architecture in my Art History class thus how this drawing came about. I use shading to help create the overall volume and form of the face. The dark value in the eyes that creates the inner shadow of the eyes adds emphasis to his eyes. The values help form his cheekbones and distinguish facial features.
Value Drawing –This skull drawing is my personal favorite and shows lines, values, contrast, and form. I used a skeleton bust as my reference to draw the accuracy of the skull. The elements of design are used to create the structure of the skull such as the sutures and framework. The lines and shading help create a sense of 3D form on a 2d surface. The dark value in the background is the cast shadow of the skull and helps bring focus to the skull. This is very detailed from the teeth structure to the nasal bone and jugular section. These values help create a sense of depth and volume.
Portraits -These were hand-drawing portraits I have made. Each demonstrates a different usage of medium, however, they all showcase their own personalities. The Frida drawing is a personal freelance drawing of mine because Frida was an inspiration for me. There are not a lot of women in the Art field that is recognized and her art speaks volume with a deeper message. The Frida drawing shows colors, form, shape, and lines that help add emphasis to her face. For example, the colorful flowers surrounding her face make her face appeal more. The low contrast between her face and the colorful flowers creates a sense of balance.
Portrait– The dog portrait was drawn for a friend whose dog has passed so this was in remembrance of the dog that they cherished so much. The dog drawing is low contrast, with different values that help create the texture of his skin. The lines help build his overall shape. Such as his nose and lumpy skin texture. Some areas may appear dark to demonstrate cast shadows and brightness.
Portrait– The J Cole drawing at the time I was a huge fan because he used his music platform to touch so many people through hip-hop. His music is relatable and touches everyone across the globe. I used oil pastels to create a beautiful background as one. The drawing shows color, lines, shape form, and all the necessary elements needed to create this drawing. The background is bright and vivid helps add emphasis to the person. I added highlights and darker values to his face to bring more attention to his eyes and hair. The line and shapes help form his fur from his coat once again creating visual texture.
Portrait– This ink drawing is from a previous illustration class. We were introduced to ink calligraphy and how to draw by the usage of India ink and India ink brush. It was a little challenge at first but after more tries, I started to have an interest in the medium. It helps me add texture to the figure and have more control over my line work. The ink portrait drawing shows texture, repletion, value, form, pattern, balance etc. The lines from his hair and beard add texture and the line from his clothing creates visual texture. The lines help form his facial expression from his eyes to his frown. The negative and positive space is well balanced. I used the elements to help create his overall form and emotion.
