About

Hello, my name is Christie and I’m a versatile graphic designer that loves growing through different creative processes. I make an effort to design without my ego and I refrain from focusing on just one standard of beauty or style as I work to create. I’m organized when completing projects and collaborate well with others. My dedication and imagination allow me to transform concepts into compelling visuals. My goal is to create designs that not only look great but also convey a message, tell a story, and leave a lasting impression. Whether it’s crafting a brand identity, designing marketing materials, or producing stunning digital content, I embrace every opportunity to bring creativity to life. I’m focused on personal growth outside of my digital art projects, so when I have free-time I enjoy getting outside to photograph landscapes, nature, and animals.

My favorite quote: “Art offers a retreat from the materialism and corruption of the modern world while bringing us closer to a profounder feeling of our inextricable union with the infinite.” -Albert Bloch

My analysis of another artist’s photographic work:

Genre: Portraiture Time Period: Postmodern Title: Woman in a Red Hat “Le Lipstick” Artist/Maker: Marie Cosindas (American, 1923 – 2017) Date: 1968 Medium: Polaroid dye diffusion print

A sense of upscale femininity is captured in “Le Lipstick” which is striking as well as odd since it is rare to see a woman possess so much attractiveness without displaying her hair. She draws attention to viewers through her eyes and by clutching her pearls wearing her enormous ring, making her appear contently aware of how she displays her own wealth. It appears she is mindful of her own mysteriousness, which is illuminated through her alluring and eccentric style. This woman comes across as a “secret beauty” who hides behind her brimmed red hat, oversized fluffy jacket, and pearls. Her sense of secretiveness is reflective of the restrictive 1960’s era, when women’s rights were less of a cultural normality. Her clever way of displaying her beauty underneath all of her heavy belongings is this woman’s daring response to a society that has yet to liberate the rights of women.

Expressionism is commonly seen in postmodern art and is apparent in this photograph. Artistic expression furthered itself after the self-developing color process, also known as the dye-diffusion print process. This process revolutionized at home photography as well as fine art photographs after 1947. Photographer Marie Cosindas captured this image as well as other fine art photographs with the intention of portraying her subjects in the most flattering of styles.

The formal elements at work within “Le Lipstick” are color and texture, which both lend an extra sense of significance and presence to this image. The vibrant colors within this photograph create warmth while the style of this woman’s attire is reflective of the season of autumn or winter. The rich redness of this young woman’s hat is a fashion statement that can only be made in the fall or winter months of the year. The large attitude of this woman’s black fluffy jacket and hat indirectly symbolizes a sense of her importance. The shape of this women’s hat is unusual because it looks to be more brimmed to the left, making viewers think that this hat could be possibly worn improperly. Perhaps this hat was purposefully worn incorrectly for artistic reasons, or a sideways hat might have been a fashion statement at the time. The texture of this woman’s black and fluffy coat gives the impression that it is made out of a soft fur that keeps her warm. Whether this furry jacket is made of real fur or not is up for debate but there is a lingering sense that her coat is expensive by the way she presents it.

A quiet and secretive beauty of the 1960’s mesmerizes audiences through this photograph as her conservative yet extravagant fashion tells a story about the woman underneath it all. Questions arise when looking at this image in regard to why her hair is not visible and why her hat is so oddly positioned. Although there are several uncertainties surrounding this photograph, this art seeks to intrigue audiences with the undeniable beauty of the woman pictured.
