Branding Project – Pasta Amore
The Prompt
Develop a brand for a restaurant using provided imagery and brand style guide. Create a menu, a brochure, table tent, and website as deliverables.
The Pasta Amore Branding Project is one of my earliest and favorite projects I’ve worked on. Being given the branding style guide for the company and having to design from there was certainly a fun challenge. This was also the project where I first used Adobe InDesign. The design needed to be fun and family friendly while maintaining legibility. I decided to keep the design simple, using easy to understand graphics in the header and a basic red swoosh throughout each print piece.
The main programs I used for this project were Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign. The majority of the design and image manipulation was done in Photoshop, then those images were imported into InDesign for proper arrangement. This project acted as an exercise in color, visual hierarchy, balance, and unity. To maintain a united, cohesive design, I created a red swoosh that is seen in all three pieces. While it is a simple detail, it pulls the three designs together more than just using the same colors and logo in every piece. In the refining of this piece, I didn’t end up using any feedback from my peers. I tested out the suggestions given, but ultimately opted for the original design.
