Greetings, my name is Mohala, and I am a Graphic Designer focusing on Web Design and Digital Marketing. My name and I are from Hawaii; while it might sound similar to ‘Thank you’ in Hawaiian; Mohala and Mahalo are pretty different. Mohala means bringing forth a new life, specifically when the flowers first start to bloom. As such my work focuses on utilizing bold colors, engaging designs, and animations that lead viewers on a virtual visual journey. As an artistic individual, my preferred medium is digital, but I also create with acrylics and oil pastels.
With over 15 years of artistic design experience, I’ve watched the evolution of software, hardware, and design trends. Most of my technical skills were self-taught until I decided a little over a year ago to return to school and pursue a BA in Graphic Design with minors in Creative Writing and Marketing. Outside of the classroom, I explore additional learning opportunities through LinkedIn Learning, Coursea, and Google. Being aware of changes in the digital landscape allows me to go with the flow and alter my designs to remain relevant in today’s fast-paced digital landscape. When creating I tend to favor Adobe Illustrator over other applications because of the scaleability. If I am working on a social media post and the client decides they’d like to create a poster with the design, I can easily adjust the size without any significant work. This helps me keep my prices and turnaround time lower than if I would have had to recreate the design on a larger scale.
It is my aim to help small business owners understand the complicated nuances of the Internet without becoming overwhelmed. As such, my personal mission is to provide stunning visuals that represent cleverly crafted messages that best represent your goals, intentions, and brand identity. I am well versed in Adobe design offerings and work in Figma, Sribus, Pixlr, Inkscape, Canva, VistaCreate, and many other designer tools. My versatility allows me to create within my client’s expectations while also creating an opportunity for them to take the initiative and evolve their design themselves. While this is not typical, it is something I offer to empower businesses to take complete creative control of their message with a strong professionally designed base that I provide.
I look forward to helping you bring your creative endeavors to life through custom designs tailored to your unique needs. Mahalo your new Hawaiian friend, Mohala.
