Unfortunately using my name for my portfolio is not an option because there is a very famous Ian Griffith somewhere out there collecting all the google searches. He also has the domain, so I am now GraphicGriff. GraphicGriff is my personal brand of graphic design and other creative projects. I have studied Graphic Design in high school and currently at the college level. After high school I continued to work in graphic design and stayed current with the software and industry. Currently most of my work consist of small projects and a few commissions. I prefer to work on branding and marketing but have experience with everything from package design to photo-manipulation. I am all about the details and would prefer creative subtleties over flashy design. With that being said I do have an affinity for guerilla marketing and the clever design. As a kid I wanted to be a woodworker, then an artist, and then in high school a graphic designer. Eventually I will be all three.
BACKGROUND
I have a variety of experience collaborating with others and creating independent work. Much of my experience comes from designing 2-D layered graphics to be sent to plotter cutter and assembled by hand. This work was a combination of engineering and design where the design relied heavily on the function. I have put in hours upon hours in Photoshop building my photo-manipulation skills for music artists and private label sellers on Amazon. This type of work has allowed me to push myself with photorealism and grew my communication and collaboration skills. I also have quite a bit of experience in video and photography and enjoy them in my free time. There is so much that overlaps between design, photography, and cinematography and each has made me better at the others. I started with graphic design and picked up photography to build up my graphic design and it grew from there.
GOALS
My immediate goal is to continue to gain experience and improve my portfolio. I am working to create a portfolio full of work that I am proud of and the type of work I wish to do day today. Once I feel my portfolio is a true representation of me and the work, I want to do I will pursue freelance work while building lifelong partnerships to be able to start a design firm utilizing my skill and knowledge to service brands and small business I want to help grow. The firm will focus on branding at launch and grown to media and marketing.
With each project I aim to reinvent the wheel. At this point nothing is original anymore, but I still try find a way to make every project stand out while solving the problem we set out for. I do realize not every project lends itself to personalization and creativity but those are the jobs I am working to get away from. The goal is to collaborate with you to create something new, expressive, and something we both can be proud of.
