Emory University Continuing Education Program: Graphic Design Certificate
Introduction to Graphic Design
Students of this course received an introduction to graphic design with an overview of basic design principles and the industry standard Adobe Creative Cloud programs.
Throughout the course, students developed an “Introduction to the Artist” image that captured the essence of themselves as an artist. The required components to the image were the following: at least two colors, two fonts depicting the artist’s name and occupation, three pieces of media that inspire the artist, and a select number of images.
Intro to the Artist – Version 1
Faced with numerous seemingly unrelated components to be combined into one cohesive image, I drew inspiration from the bulletin board hanging over my desk.

Intro to the Artist – Version 2
The second iteration of the image took a vastly different approach with a concept that incorporated my love for performing with the use of film strips to frame the various image elements.

Intro to the Artist – Final Version
While the second version was a fun exploration, it lacked the personality that the original bulletin board concept had. In the final iteration, the bulletin board concept returned with a more realistic approach of multiple layers, textures, and patterns brought together in one place.
