Website Re-Design Proposal

The heuristic design selected for the website was to improve the UI and UX of this site. There were issues with the design in the beginning and those issues caused viewers to either find a new site or give up altogether (Lauren). This design incorporates a way to search for books by genre, category, and length. Users can now sign up for the newsletter and create an account. During my research being able to do an advanced search on a bookstore site is crucial. Having a link that works on-site gives better feedback and traffic on the site.

Graphic elements for the site include icons that are well-known to internet users across the globe. For instance, social media icons, account icons, and cart icons are used on this website to help users correlate to things that they already know. This site contains web fonts and is accessible. No placeholder text is used as the owner of the bookstore wanted the content to be genuine. The site does pass acceptable color contrast standards that can be tested on Adobe.com. By clicking on a book, a window will pop up giving details about the book, where it is located, and the cost. According to (Britannica) aesthetics is a philosophical study of the qualities that make something an object of aesthetic interest and of the nature of aesthetic value and judgment.

The new website has improved the content and user experience exponentially. Users are now able to go through the site and get to things they are looking for without being redirected to different pages. The shopping cart, advanced search, and account creation features are all interactive. The new site does achieve the desired goals. User testing was vitally important to ensure appropriate content for the site. This design is simple and easy to follow as a user. Viewers were less likely to get lost or confused within the design.
