Pasta Amore

Tools: Adobe InDesign

Vision: Pasta Amore is a family friendly restaurant that is passionate about using fresh ingredients to create meals with traditional views and a modern twist. Their brand desires to share their culture and adapt to the consumer insight. They pride themselves on quality and creativity in their meals and environment.

Design: I have created a table tent advertisement, brochure, and menu on brand for this client. I wanted to display the traditional feel of the restaurant with the darker colors and highlight the fresh vegetables they use for their food. Care was taken in each photo chosen that embodied the leafy green and marinera red of the traditional logo. Readability and hierarchy were paramount in this design to make simple yet engaging stationery that invited guests to be apart of the family that runs the restaurant.

Desert Well B-ng Catalog

Tools: Adobe InDesign

Vision: Desert Well B-ng is a company based in Joshua Tree California who sells medicinal CBD tinctures. Their passion is a quality product that contributes to wellness. They desire to stray from the taboo of the THC aspect as their substances are non-intoxicating and all natural. Their target audience are people who enjoy supporting small businesses, meditation, and natural treatments.

Design: Colors used in this project such as the blues and teals paired with browns that are natural calming colors symbolizing reliability and nature. The imagery used is purposefully meant to give a sense of wellbeing and natural medicinal treatments. I avoided the imagery of the hemp leave for taboo sake and showcased the lab tests to emphasize quality. I designed an asymmetrical balance along the two pages with the circle photos to add a dynamic. The circle shape is a reoccurring one that allows the design to have unity.

Planets Inhabited

Tools: Adobe InDesign

Vision: In this project, the client needed an engaging two page layout for their article, “Are the Planets Inhabited?”

Design: I employ the principles of design with care taken with my typography being a serif font that lends to the idea of a serious and academic article. I have paired this font with a sans serif and aligned the paragraphs to the left for ease of readability. Hierarchy is evident on the right side of the page with the amount of information and credentials of Walter Maunder. The kerning style of “inhabited” and “stated” is repeated to tie the two pages together stylistically. There is visual balance in each page. The background photo has a person pointing their headlamp to the stars as well as bringing the reader’s attention to the page on the right. The astronaut image on the right, is reaching for the reader and the answer to the question. All photos have received permission to use for commercial projects.

Chem Trails Magazine Cover

Tools: Adobe InDesign

Vision: This client wanted to bring attention to the matters of our ecosystem and ozone layer with the harm of pollution.

I placed the image on the page in several different positions before deciding on the one here. My project task was to create two opposing magazine covers with the same image and this was a great project to get my self-expression and creativity flowing. I am passionate about caring about the ozone layer and pollution, so this was also a fun project for self-expression. I will definitely be trying this idea again for practice again.

Design: The title of the magazine, EcoMatters, is a serif font that evokes feelings of honesty, integrity, and seriousness. I have paired this with a sans serif evoking a feeling of cleanliness and modernism. The image is two older planes that are pollution the sky. The zig-zag layout of the image has been integrated through out the page. The top of the image shows a blue sky and as you get to the lower end it is more filled with clouds of pollution. Hierarchy is evident for the reader and the importance of the words. There is a call to action and an intrigue to open the magazine to read more. “Chemtrails” is large and stacked on top on another with a visual connection to the letter’s edges.

Amethyst Bay Resort & Spa

Tools Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator

Vision: This client is an established resort and spa that wanted to target a different audience than their regular crowd to gain more business. They tasked me in creating a girls’ trip ad to get groups coming to their resort.

Design: I chose imagery and colors to appeal to the feminine groups and go along with the purples in the logo. Great attention to line, space, and typography are present in this design. There is unity in the magazine ad and web banner ad. In both, there is a call to action and an excitement to bring your friends to the resort. Each project has been exported for print and web to have the correct colors visually. The web banner has a liquid texture to “girls’ trip” to emphasize splashing into the water in the bay. The woman in the sunhat is a faceless figure and allows for the reader to put themselves in her hat so to speak.

George Harrison Typographic Portrait

Tools: Adobe Illustrator

Vision: This project’s vision was to create a recognizable portrait made entirely of type.

Design: I employed form, value, and shape to this portrait, along with hierarchy, balance, and white space to help this portrait be visually stimulating. The songs used in the portrait written by George Harrison are, “My Sweet Lord,” “I, Me, Mine,” “Something,” “Bangladesh,” and “Handle Me with Care.” They all speak volumes to Harrison’s character, personality, and his genius contribution to The Beatles. The Bootle font is a typeface that was drawn for The Beatles and has since become synonymous of the band. Harrison was a spiritual man and I have highlighted this important aspect of his character with the eyes saying, “Bangla” and “Desh,” which is where he found his spiritual journey and the experience laid the floor for many other successful songs.
